"Designing Women Live" — Comedy by Linda Bloodworth-Thomason — People longing for a return of Julia, Suzanne, Mary Jo and Charlene get a chance to see a live version of Designing Women. The four episodes Fountain Square Players has adapted for the stage are:

  • Big Haas and Little Falsie: Mary Jo contemplates getting breast implants after receiving an inheritance from her uncle with the stipulation she must spend the money on something frivolous.
  • Bernice’s Sanity Hearing: Bernice's niece tries to have her declared incompetent because of her sometimes bizarre behavior. The women must testify for her.
  • Getting Married and Eating Dirt: Bernice Clifton asks the women of Sugarbaker's to be her wedding attendants when she receives a marriage proposal from a man who has an odd habit of proposing to every woman he meets.
  • Dash Goff the Writer: Suzanne's novelist ex-husband visits, and she discovers he has writer's block and is contemplating suicide.

It should be fun to revisit shows that haven’t been available for years.

Auditions: April 2 and 3 at 7PM. Cast: 7 women and 7 men. Performances: May 17 through May 20, 2012 at the Phoenix Theatre.

Seussical the Musical—Book by  Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. Music by  Stephen Flaherty. Lyrics by  Lynn Ahrens. Co-Conceived by  Eric Idle. Based on the works of Dr. Seuss.
Now one of the most performed shows in America, "Seussical" is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty ("Ragtime," "Once On This Island") have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie, and a little boy with a big  imagination--Jojo. "Oh, the Thinks You Can Think" captures the show's spirit of imagination, as the colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos. Auditions: April 30 & May 1, 2012. Cast: Large cast men, women and youth. Performances: June 21-24, 2012 at the Phoenix Theatre.
